Julia Fiona Roberts born to Betty Lou Bredemus (mother) and Walter Grady Roberts on October 28 in 1967. Roberts is the fourth Roberts generation to reside in Atlanta from her farmer great-grandfather John Pendleton Roberts. In the early years of his life the father of her mother became obsessed by theatre. He acted on at the Emory University campus in 1952 as well as in various productions in Atlanta. Following his air force service In 1953, he starred in an airforce production in Biloxi with Betty Lou Bredemus. The couple got married in 2005 and had their first child, Eric Anthony in 1956. Walter attended Tulane University at New Orleans in the year 1957, after they had separated from the Air Force of the United States. In 1960 the family moved to Decatur Georgia where Walter began working with Atlanta's Academy Theater and the Harrington Scenic and Lighting Studio. Walter as well as Betty Lou financed their own production of a Sunday morning show for children, Bum Bum and His Buddies. In 1964 Walter and Betty Lou founded The Actors and Writers Workshop. It lasted for 6 years. In 1965, they welcomed two children to the family: Lelisa Billingsley and Julia Billingsley.
